This first solo exhibition of the artist in the United States features a limited edition of signature pieces including lighting and furniture that reflects the breadth and poetry of Thierry Dreyfus' creative mastery of light at an intimate and personal scale.

Always with an image of lightness, astonishing and coolness, W hotel has been conceived for young people who enjoy life and party. Though, I have proposed to Mamhut and Selim from GEOMIM a kind of interactive installation for the entrance hall : The goal is that this hall way seems dark when you come inside it, with dome kind of light leak on the ceiling and the floor ; not only dark but also mysterious by its hyper glossy feeling. Then, as soon you walk in this hallway, your penetrate between the "walls", these one turns all together, both side together, exactly coordinated, unexpected, and make discovered strong light coming from two screens hidden behind them. These screens diffuse films, either natural images either music clips, either inside of Turkish iconic land mark spaces. This light will attract the pedestrian, and surprise him/her, but will disappear when the triangle will close again. Each of the 3 sides of the triangle have a different treatment, meaning that the two walls could be either simply white, either mirrored, silver or dark mirror, either iridescent treatment/crystals. The walls are never mixed texture ; they are all the same, on each side. The duration of the turning movement revealing the screens/images and light (when they turn the all corridor will be over lighted) is slow, as 10/15 seconds to open and close again. The directions of the turn of the mirror are the one from the pedestrian coming to the hotel or out of the hotel. When two person cross, it is the first one which is the most important, creating possibly two directions opposite on the two spaces.

A mirror. A surface of emptiness on which women or men are used to look at themselves in passing. And still the same attitude, as a Mantra, at waking time or bedtime : “What did I do today ?”, “Was I alive today ?...”. This mirror reminds us not to accept to be eaten up by speed, consumption, habits, but above all that we are Alive, that we Can do what we want, we Are… Made in France in collaboration with an Turkish artisan

BUNKER

The defensive architecture of bunkers have always fascinated me ; from their specific shapes I wished to draw a new lamp. From then on, it went obvious to use a massive shape ; then, to bring into opposition these “primary” lines and a luxury material, as marble and copper. At last, I thought of kids, always on the floor and usually trying to find security and dreams under the tables… Though, I drawn this Element of Light as a hidden sun, only visible from underneath... All became this floor lamp, solid and stable as an Animal. Made in Turkey

Small Light-Box

“Carrying” light with you, holding light of words, in a small rectangular wooden box… At the same time, this light contains also the word LIGHT in French… Once this poetic Element of Light is plugged in and open, we discover in there, either silver mirrored inside with a cold white neon light, either golden mirrors with a red neon light. Made in France in collaboration with an Turkish artisan
